NEWSAhead of the World Test Championship (WTC) final, India and New Zealand have gained one and two points respectively. India still remain at the top of the rankings with 121 points, while New Zealand have closed the gap with 120 points in the annual Test rankings update. England have overtaken Australia after gaining five points into third position, while Australia slip to the fourth position.
"India have gained one rating point for an aggregate of 121 and New Zealand are only one point behind after gaining two points in Thursday’s update, which eliminates results from 2017-18," the ICC Media Release said.
"India’s 2-1 win over Australia and 3-1 win over England over the past year and New Zealand’s 2-0 series wins over the West Indies and Pakistan have helped them keep ahead of the pack," it added.
With their 2-0 series win over Zimbabwe, Pakistan have gained three ranking points, but remain at No. 5, while West Indies have moved to sixth from eighth position - their best since 2013 - following their impressive 2-0 series win over Bangladesh, followed by a 0-0 draw against Sri Lanka
South Africa, on the other hand, have registered their lowest ranking position, currently at seventh, followed by Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
