India U19s On A Roll: Ayush Mhatre’s Side Pulverises Australia In Youth Tests
After defeating Australia 3-0 in the Youth ODIs, the Indian boys also clean-swept them in the Youth Test matches
The India Men’s Under-19 team under Ayush Mhatre has continued to extend its dominance over the opposition in Australia as well, after defeating the England U19 side comprehensively just recently.
The Indian side had already won the Youth ODI series 3-0 and had absolutely pulverised the home side in the first Youth Test in Brisbane, after being victorious by an innings and 58 runs. They continued in the same vein in the second Youth Test as well in Mackay, and came on top by 7 wickets in yet another ruthless performance.
In Mackay, it was a low-scoring affair as Australia were bundled for just 135 in the first innings, with pacer Henil Patel and spinner Khilan Patel picking up three wickets each. India U19 were also in trouble with the bat, but ended up scoring 171 to get a handy lead in the first innings. Fast bowler Deepesh Devendran did the job with the bat with a 28-run contribution for his side, the highest on the day.
In the third innings, Australia could score only 116 as pacers Henil Patel and Udhav Mohan blew away the top order, with half of the team back in the hut at just 29. Keeper batter Alex Lee Young high scored with a crucial 38 off 78, but it wasn’t enough to secure a positive result for Australia as India cruised home soon, scoring 84/3 in just 12.2 overs.
With this win, Mhatre’s India have proved their dominance over two quality oppositions and, more importantly, have unveiled quite a few young stars for India at the international level, including the already famous Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
