It was a stop-start sort of day on Day 1 between India and England at the Oval on July 31 (Thursday). England dominated the day in bowling-friendly conditions, and it was clearly their day as they managed to restrict India to 204/6.
Karun Nair, who returned for this game after missing the last game in Manchester, was the pick of the batters for India as he remained unbeaten on 52. He will look to convert it into a big one when play resumes on Day 2, but needs some support from the other end as well. He has put on over 50 for the seventh wicket with Washington Sundar.
However, will the weather support him in his quest to get a big one?
Rain is expected in patches through the day, but it is expected to stay clear in the afternoon after 2 PM local time onwards.
Only 64 overs were possible on Day 1, and we could be in for a similar sort of day on he second day. The temperatures will reach a maximum of 22°C, and the humidity will go as high as 75%
Josh Tongue and Gus Atkinson picked up two wickets apiece, while Chris Woakes picked up one.
