England made a great comeback in the Leeds Test on Day 2 as they managed to bowl out India for 471 runs with last seven wickets being taken by the English bowlers inside 41 runs, causing a big collapse for team India.
Coming out to bat, England have managed to score 206 for 3 after a splendid century by Ollie Pope and a big 122 run partnership between Pope & Ben Duckett resulting in England sealing all three sessions of Day 2.
With a big Day 3 coming up tomorrow, let us look at the possible things that might happen.
Indian bowlers did not have a great day as they were hammered by Duckett and Pope. Only Jasprit Bumrah had a good day, managing to take all the three wickets. Looking at Day 3, team India have done well in recent times, managing to take over 100 wickets in 20 innings in the last couple of years. Their bowling average of 21.0 is the best for a team on Day 3 in this time period. Hence, expect India to make a comeback and bowl England out around the 400-run mark.
Bumrah once again stepped up as the leader of the Indian bowling attack and managed to take the wickets of Crawley, Duckett and Root. He managed to get into a nice rhythm and will be expected to continue it on Day 3 as well. Since 2024, his best bowling has been on Day 3, as he's taken 10 wickets at an average of 13.9, which is the best for any bowler on this day in Tests in recent times. Bumrah to be the best bowler is a no-brainer.
Harry Brook has had a tricky start to his first Test innings against India as the home town star is yet to open his account after facing 12 deliveries, coming out bat in the last couple overs of the day. He got a lifeline from Bumrah as his wicket was overturned after Bumrah had overstepped.
Looking into his record in the second innings, Brook has averaged 70.9, which is his best in any innings in his Test career. He has managed to score four fifties and three centuries in this innings and there will be hopes from the Headingley crowd to see their hometown hero smash the Indian bowlers.
Weather Prediction For Day 3
Unfortunately, some bad news. There is rain expected on Day 3, and play will definitely be interrupted. According to Accuweather, there is a 65% chance of rain on Sunday in Leeds.
However, there is good news as well. While there is rain prediction, it’s unlikely that we’ll see sustained rain that will play spoilsport.
