India vs England Day 5 Weather Update: Will It Rain In Headingley On Day 5?

Will it rain on Day 5 at Headingley?

We’ve been witness to one of the best and most riveting matches in recent times at Headingley in Leeds, and the game is beautifully set up as we head into the final day: England need 350 runs while India need 10 wickets to go 1-0 up in the five-match series.

Now, usually, a 350+ chase is supposed to be an overwhelming advantage for the bowling team, but this is Bazball England, and it’s also Headingley, arguably the best batting surface in the country.

However, there’s one thing that could stop us from getting a result in this contest, and that’s rain. Luckily enough, it did not rain on Day 4, but here in England, there’s always the threat of rain. So, is it good news or bad news coming our way?

Headingley weather update for Tuesday (Day 5)

Spoilers: there’s bad news. We can definitely expect some rain tomorrow, particularly in the first half of the day.

According to Accuweather, there’s a nearly 60% chance of rain between 9 AM and 10 AM, which is roughly in and around the start time of the day. However, the rain is expected to subside a bit after that.

More light showers are expected around 2 PM local time, which is sometime after lunch, but the weather looks pretty clear after that.

So, while there might be interruptions, we should still get enough play for a result. Especially from an Indian perspective, since overcast weather will favour the bowling side.

Also, remember, since tomorrow is day five, stumps won’t be at 6.30 PM local time (11.00 PM IST). Play can be extended for as long as light permits, meaning we could even be playing if there’s sunshine around, say, 7.30 PM.
