Thanks to an eight-day-long break, the Indian and English players have had sufficient rest, and so it’s time for the action to restart. The second Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy starts at Edgbaston, Birmingham, from July 2 (Wednesday), and it will be a match that the tourists will be desperate to win in order to avoid going 0-2 down in the five-match series.
India had a golden opportunity to go 1-0 up in the series in the first Test at Headingley, but blew their chances and succumbed to a bad defeat.
We don’t know at this point whether Jasprit Bumrah will play the second Test, but the bigger question is: will rain affect proceedings at Edgbaston?
Rain barely affected the first Test in Leeds, and there’s fantastic news as the weather looks almost clear for day one of the second Test at Edgbaston.
‘Almost’ is the key word here, as you can never be sure about the English weather.
According to Accuweather, there is a 1% chance of rain (yes, one per cent) around noon, and that’s about it. However, it’s expected to be cloudy the entire day, so that could assist fast bowling.
All said and done, it seems like we’re set to have a full day’s play, likely uninterrupted, on Wednesday.
