A total of 75.3 overs were possible on Day 3 of the first Test between England and India at Headingley in Leeds on June 22 (Sunday).
We got close to six hours of action and would have gotten 25 minutes more of cricket if the rain had not arrived right at the end of the day’s play.
After India bowled England out for 465 and took a small lead of six runs, the visitors ended the day with a lead of 96 runs and eight wickets remaining.
India were 90/2 when the stumps were drawn on Day 3, with KL Rahul and Shubman Gill batting on 47 and 6 respectively.
So, will rain affect day four, or will we have a full, uninterrupted day’s play?
There’s a 20 percent chance of rain on day four of the first Test but it won’t have a big impact on the day’s play. A bit of shower but that’s it.
There might be a couple of short rain breaks. However, we should get at least 80 overs of action, depending on the over rate. Expect the sun to play hide and seek once again.
Just like it was on Day 3, it’s going to be windy on the penultimate day as well, with the humidity to be around 50-60 percent.
So, don’t worry and brace yourself for an exciting Day 4. What transpires on the fourth day could very well decide the fate of the match.
