India have had a strong hold over Pakistan in ICC tournaments. However, back in 2017, that wasn’t the case when a Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Pakistan trashed India in the Champions Trophy final by 180 runs.
Since then, Pakistan have only managed to win once against India in the 2021 T20 World Cup in the Middle East. Across the last two encounters, Pakistan were at the end of brutal humiliation at the hands of India.
Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali has a solution to the country’s problems, stating that Sarfaraz Ahmed should be appointed Pakistan’s mentor for the clash in the upcoming Champions Trophy.
"Against India, Pakistan should make their mentor that person who had won the Champions Trophy last time for the country, that is Sarfaraz Ahmed. Why? Sarfaraz's suggestions and experience of winning the trophy will be very useful. I will not take anybody else's name. A captain is a captain, the way he made the fight in that match,” Basit Ali said on his YouTube channel.
Pakistan are scheduled to play India on February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
