India vs Pakistan is considered to be the biggest cricketing fixture today, and we have witnessed some of the closely-contested matches in recent times. The two teams are set to clash in Asia Cup 2025 on September 14 in Dubai. On that note, we take a look at the last three matches the arch-rivals contested in.
Batting first, India had put on just 119 on the board, with some lacklustre performances by their batters. Barring Rishabh Pant (42), only Rohit Sharma (13) and Axar Patel got into double figures as Naseem Shah (3/21) and Haris Rauf (3/21) ripped through the Indian batting. However, thanks to Jasprit Bumrah's incredible spell of 3/14 and some tight bowling from the other bowlers, India were able to restrict Pakistan to just 113 to win the match by six runs.
In one of the best matches in the T20 World Cups, India scraped home off the last ball thanks to a Virat Kohli masterclass. The Indian batter smashed an unbeaten 82 off 53 to help India chase down 160. Pakistan had India on the mat at 31/4 in the seventh over, but a 113-run stand between Kohli and Hardik Pandya (40) pulled India back in the game, and in the end, the Rohit Sharma-led side did just about enough to get the two points.
Just over two months before their clash in the T20 World Cup, the two teams were involved in yet another massive game, this time in the Asia Cup. It looked like India had enough when they put on 181/7 on the board riding on Kohli's 60 off 44. However, Mohammad Rizwan (71) and Mohammad Nawaz's 42 got Pakistan over the line off the penultimate ball of the match, with five wickets in hand. India clearly missed the services of their spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who was ruled out due to a back injury.
