After reports that the second semi-final in Guyana will not have a reserve day, ESPNCricinfo reported that India could play the second semi-final in Guyana, provided they qualify for the knockouts.
As per the reports, the first semi-final in Trinidad is a night game (8:30 PM local time), meaning it would begin early hours at 6 AM on June 27 in the subcontinent. Given how it isn’t too favourable for the broadcasters, India would play the second semi-final, a day game. Also, it would start at 8 PM IST, so the fixture would have more eyeballs.
However, there will be no reserve day for the clash, and 250 additional minutes will instead be allotted to complete it in case of rain delays.
Only one warm-up game for India
In addition to all these reports, Cricbuzz also reported that India would only play one warm-up fixture ahead of the showpiece event in the Caribbean and the United States of America.
The reports further clarified that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) want their warm-up fixture in New York, a city the team will call home during the global event. As per the report, the ICC have listed India’s warm-up fixture in Florida.
Multiple reports suggest that India will leave in two batches, one flying on May 24 and one on May 26 after the IPL final.
