Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has now lost the third-most number of tosses in a row in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
Rohit once again lost the toss against New Zealand in Match 12 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai on March 2 (Sunday) - his 10th consecutive toss loss in the 50-over format.
West Indies’ Brian Lara (12) and Netherlands’ Peter Borren (11) are now the only two captains ahead of Rohit in terms of losing most tosses in a row in ODIs.
The last time Rohit won a toss was against New Zealand in the semi-final of the 2023 ODI World Cup in Mumbai.
Under Rohit, India lost the toss against Australia in the final and then lost the toss in every six games of the three-match series against Sri Lanka and England. Rohit also lost the toss in the first two ICC Champions Trophy 2025 matches against Bangladesh and Pakistan, respectively.
Overall, India have now lost 13 tosses in a row, which in itself is a record in ODIs. Last year, India also played three ODIs in South Africa under KL Rahul’s captaincy and lost all tosses there as well.
Both India and New Zealand have already qualified for the semis of CT 2025. The winner of this game will take on Australia in Dubai, while the loser will play South Africa in Lahore.
