The Indian Premier League has played a massive part in shaping plenty of careers. Many have taken the IPL route to make it to the international side. Here, we take a look at a few players from IPL 2025 who could soon play for the Indian side.
Ashutosh Sharma raised the roof with some breathtaking performances last season for Punjab Kings (PBKS) and has started the 2025 season off in splendid fashion with a 31-ball 66 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Only three players have a better strike rate than Ashutosh Sharma (217.5) at the death (Min: 150 runs) in the IPL since 2024. The 26-year-old Delhi Capitals (DC) batter might fit perfectly into the finisher's role for Team India.
Another product of Mumbai Indians' (MI) top-notch scouting, Nehal Wadhera, came into the IPL, smashing 49 off 24 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on debut. Wadhera, who has an uncanny resemblance to Yuvraj Singh's stroke-making, has not taken the IPL by storm but has certainly shown potential.
IPL 2025 is going to be a massive year for the southpaw. He has started off well for his new franchise, Punjab Kings (PBKS), hitting 43* off just 25 balls against LSG. A few more such knocks could see him in contention for a T20I spot.
The Indian team already has plenty of quality spinners, with many more waiting in the wings. You add leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi, who has impressed in the early stages of IPL 2025, into the mix. Rathi has already picked up five wickets for LSG in three matches.
The leg-spinner has only bowled googlies or carrom balls in the IPL this season and has been far more effective with the latter, picking up four wickets at 11. India are sure to spring a surprise or two with the T20 World Cup squad selection, and the 25-year-old, who had a breakout season in the Delhi Premier League (DPL), could be in the mix if he keeps going like this.
