IPL 2025: David Warner To Reunite With DC? 3 Players Who Can Replace Harry Brook

The batter has pulled out of the tournament to prepare for upcoming matches for England

With Harry Brook pulling out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, it has left an overseas slot open for the Delhi Capitals (DC) heading into the next season.

We look at three potential replacements for the England batter:

David Warner

Former Australia opener David Warner had two stints at DC. First between 2009 and 2013 and more recently between 2022 and 2024. Warner is the fourth-highest run-getter in IPL history with 6,565 runs at a strike rate of nearly 140 out of which over 2,500 runs have come for Delhi.

He was not retained by the franchise and was not bought by any franchise in the IPL 2025 auction. If DC show interest in the 38-year-old, Warner will have to choose between playing for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the IPL, as the two tournaments run simultaneously.

Dewald Brevis

South African batter Dewald Brevis found no bidders for him at the IPL 2025 auction despite setting a base price of INR 75 lakh for himself. Brevis played a key role in helping Mumbai Indians Cape Town (MICT) win their maiden SA20 title earlier this year, forming excellent partnerships with Ryan Rickleton and Rassie van der Dussen.

Brevis is, in a way, a like-for-like replacement for Brook as they are known to get going from ball one and put pressure back on the opposition. He is also prolific against spin, having struck at nearly 140 against them at a healthy average of 40.43, which is an upgrade over Brook.

Sikandar Raza

Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza might not be the first name in any franchise's XI, but he does have his own value. He is an excellent hitter, especially in the middle order and his ability to deliver a couple of quiet overs with his off-spin when required.

Raza's all-roundefforts helped Dubai Capitals—a team that also featured Warner—win their maiden International League T20 (ILT20) title earlier this year. In his nine IPL matches, Raza has scored 182 runs and picked up three wickets, all for Punjab Kings (PBKS). So, considering all those factors, maybe Raza could be a good option.
