Michael Bracewell went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction after he set a base price of INR 1 crore for himself. Over the years, he has proved to be a thorn in the opposition's flesh both with bat and ball.
He had one stint in the IPL after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) picked the New Zealand all-rounder as a replacement for Will Jacks in 2023. Will he get another crack in the tournament? After all, he has been picked as New Zealand T20I captain for the series against Pakistan, starting March 16.
We look at three teams that he could potentially pick him for the upcoming season:
With Harry Brook having pulled out of IPL 2025, DC has had a chance to add to their overseas roster. While not like-for-like, Bracewell, who has nearly 3,000 runs and 73 T20 wickets, could slot in right into the XI in the Englishman's place.
Back to RCB? Bracewell played five matches for RCB in the 2023 season, scoring 58 runs at 29, and chipped in with six wickets at 15.83. Given the injury concerns in the RCB camp - Jacob Bethell, Josh Hazlewood and Lockie Ferguson - Bracewell could solve a bit of their problems.
It has been a common trend for Mitchell Marsh to miss the IPL or pull out in the middle of the tournament due to injury. This is the case again, as the Australian all-rounder missed the Champions Trophy due to lower back pain. Bracewell could be the answer for LSG in the upcoming season.
