Dhruv Shorey, a former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player and Indian Premier League (IPL) winner with them from the 2018 edition, smashed a century in the second semi-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2024-25.
Playing for Vidarbha, the opener Shorey smashed 114 off 120 balls against Maharashtra at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on January 16 (Thursday). Shorey, originally from Delhi, has been playing for Vidarbha since the 2023-24 season. He hit 14 fours and a six during the game.
Shorey was picked by the Super Kings in the 2018 mega auction and played for them in two games across two seasons, scoring 13 runs. He was one of the most preferred fielders during his stay at Chennai-based IPL side.
Thanks to his century and the one from Yash Rathod (116 off 101 balls), and the breezy knock from captain Karun Nair (88* of 44 balls), Vidarbha posted 380/3 in their quota of 50 overs.
In the 2024-25 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Shorey had scored just one fifty against Chandigarh before this game. But in this all-important game, the 32-year-old with more than 70 List-A games experience finally came good when it mattered the most.
