Top 3 Indian players with most ducks in IPL history

The Indian Premier League (IPL)’s new season will begin in March 2025 and will open the world of great cricket to viewers. But amongst all the fours and sixes and the applause and cheers of the audiences, there is also the pin-drop silence when a batter gets out on a duck. 

Here are the top three Indian batters who have recorded the most number of ducks in IPL history: 

Dinesh Karthik- 18

Dinesh Karthik, who recently retired from the IPL after the end of the 2024 season, holds the record for most ducks in the richest cricket league’s history. 

Karthik, having played for six different teams in the league, has been unable to open the account on 18 occasions in his 257-match and 16-year-old career.

Rohit Sharma- 17

India’s Test and ODI captain and the man with five trophies as IPL captain for the Mumbai Indians (MI), Rohit Sharma also has the third most ducks in the league's history. He has 17 of them in his 257-match career. 

Part of the league since its inception, the Mumbaikar has played for only two teams- Deccan Chargers (defunct) and the MI franchise.

Piyush Chawla- 16

Last but not the least in the list is Piyush Chawla. A bowler who can wield the willow, Chawla has 16 ducks to his name in his 185-match career. 

Chawla, who too has been part of the league since its inception, played fewer matches compared to Karthik and Rohit because he did not play any games in the years 2020 and 2022
