In a shocking move, the finalist of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Kerala’s Aditya Sarwate, has chosen to leave the team as a professional and move to Chhattisgarh for the next Indian domestic season.
Sarwate, a two-time Ranji Trophy winner with Vidarbha, switched sides to Kerala for the 2024-25 season and will now play for Chhattisgarh in the 2025-26 season, making him a journeyman of a sort in the Indian domestic scene.
The 35-year-old is mainly a great exploit in red-ball cricket with his left-arm spin, but is a more than capable enough batter down the order as well.
Both Sarwate and Kerala Cricket Association confirmed the news.
“He has sought an NOC, and we have issued it," Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) secretary Vinod Kumar was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
"It's true that I have taken the NOC, and I am moving to Raipur. I am looking forward to the season and hope to help Chhattisgarh do well on the domestic circuit," Sarwate, who scored 271 runs and claimed 34 wickets for Kerala, also confirmed the move to the same website.
A veteran of 70 First-Class games, Sarwate has two centuries and a total of 2175 runs to go with his 310 wickets at an outstanding average of 19.47.
