The champions of the 2025 ICC Women's World Cup will receive a massive reward following their historic triumph. On Thursday, Tata Motors announced that each member of India’s victorious women’s cricket team will be gifted the upcoming Tata Sierra SUV. The company emphasised this gesture as recognition of the team’s dedication and their role in bringing honour to the country.
The milestone victory came when India defeated the South Africa women’s cricket team in the final on Sunday, November 2, at Navi Mumbai. A brisk 87-run knock by Shafali Verma and a five-wicket haul from Deepti Sharma powered India to a 52-run win.
In addition to the gift from Tata Motors, other rewards continue to flow for the squad. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a cash prize of Rs 51 crore for the team, and state governments have followed with their own honours for players from their jurisdictions.
Tata Motors’ statement quoted its Managing Director & CEO for Passenger Vehicles, Shailesh Chandra, praising the Indian women’s team for making the nation proud through their exemplary performance, determination and belief. The gift of the Sierra SUVs was hailed as a fitting tribute to their achievement.
“The Company will be presenting the top-end model of the Sierra to each member of the team, applauding their indomitable spirit and recognising their immense contribution and sacrifice in bringing glory to the country," Tata Motors said in a statement on Thursday, as quoted by India Today.
Earlier, automobile companies like Mahindra have gifted SUVs like the Thar to notable Indian athletes, and it marks a new chapter for Tata as well, as they join the list of companies that celebrate Indian sporting heroes.
