Arshin Kulakarni, the U-19 sensation, who was picked by the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025 auction earlier in 2024, had a rocking entry into List-A cricket, smashing a thumping century in his debut innings on January 11 (Saturday) against Punjab in the quarterfinal of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.
Kulkarni, who is touted to be the next big thing in terms of batting all-rounders who can bowl pace, opened the innings for Maharashtra with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, smashing 107 off 137 balls.
Hitting 14 fours, the 19-year-old had partnerships of 145 and 38 with experienced campaigners Ankit Bawne and Rahul Tripathi, respectively. He got out in the 45th over and gave a solid platform for the late-order hitters Nikhil Naik and Satyajeet Bachhav to take Maharashtra to 275/6 at the end of 20 overs.
Not only with the bat, Kularni was impressive with the ball, too, getting the all-important wicket of Punjab's highest scorer and a probable threat in Maharashtra's win, Anmolpreet Singh. He finished with figures of 1/7 in his four overs, as Maharashtra knocked out Punjab in the third quarter-final.
