IPL 2025: 3 players who can be impact player for Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians will be banking on the impact player rule to bag their sixth IPL title and go past Chennai Super Kings

Mumbai Indians struggled to make it to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs, finishing at the bottom of the table. One of their biggest worries last time around was how they used the impact player option.

How can they solve that worry of theirs in the 2025 edition of the IPL?

Robin Minz

22-year-old Robin Minz is back in the IPL, and what better place than Mumbai Indians to kick start your IPL career? The left-handed batter could fill the void that Ishan Kishan has left at the top of the order. Not only does he solve the left-hander worry for Mumbai Indians, but he also provides valuable explosiveness for the team.

Across seven T20s, the 22-year-old has amassed 67 runs with a strike rate of 181.08, with 11 boundaries. If MI wishes not to play him as an opener, they can also play the left-hander in the middle order, where he’s strong against spin.

Minz played the entire Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) in the middle order.

Raj Angad Bawa

Raj Angad Bawa has already played two IPL games for Punjab Kings but wasn’t any good across the two games. But since then, his game has improved multifold, evident from his form in the recently concluded SMAT.

The all-rounder, who played for Chandigarh, scored 171 runs, averaging 28.50, striking at 136.80, with one fifty. With the ball too, the 22-year-old finished the SMAT with 12 wickets, averaging 19.3. So, he can be a real option, considering how MI have struggled with the impact player rule.

Vignesh Puthur

When MI got Vignesh Puthur, not a lot of people would have known the 23-year-old wrist spinner. But his skillset makes him quite unique, with the left-arm wrist spinner showing his worth in the inaugural edition of the Kerala Premier League (KPL), where he played for Alleppey Rippals.

While he only picked up three wickets in the KPL, the left-arm wrist spinner, who watched a lot of Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling, could play a vital role for MI, considering their struggle to find quality spinners.
