Abhinav Manohar, who was signed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for INR 3.2 Crore, showed exactly why the franchise shelled out so much for a player with zero international experience.
He hit the Sri Lanka international Eshan Malinga for three sixes in a row in an over, before having hit a four already during SRH’s match simulation training on March 18 (Tuesday) at their home ground of Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal, Hyderabad.
Manohar, who previously played for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL, had a great Maharaja T20 tournament as well, where he scored 507 runs at an average of 84.5.
Kamindu Mendis Gets Going
Kamindu Mendis of Sri Lanka, who had a stellar 2024 with the bat, especially in the red-ball format, showed that he belongs to the white-ball format as well after he smashed a 29-ball 60 in that same game.
This was the second match simulation for the Orange brigade, who finished runners-up in the previous edition- IPL 2024. In the first game, Ishan Kishan showed his prowess with a 60-odd knock in less than half the number of balls.
The Hyderabad side will open their IPL 2025 campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 23 at their home ground only.
