IPL 2025: CSK hire Former Australia Coach Ahead of Big Season
Sridharan Sriram joined CSK as their assistant bowling coach
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hired former India allrounder Sridharan Sriram as their assistant bowling coach ahead of the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Sriram, who played eight ODIs for India and the 2009 IPL season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, has a rich CV of coaching that includes being Australia’s assistant coach from 2016 to 2022.
He also joined as Bangladesh’s T20 consultant before the Asia Cup and World Cup in 2022 and as a technical consultant before the 2023 ODI World Cup. In 2023, he joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as an assistant coach. He has also worked with Delhi Daredevils.
He will now join the CSK coaching contingent led by the former Kiwi skipper, head coach Stephen Fleming, which also included batting coach Mike Hussey, and bowling consultant Eric Simmons.
He will have the opportunity to work with a really strong CSK spin attack that includes veteran off-spinner R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Gopal and the Afghanistan left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad. There would also be the allrounders Deepak Hooda and Rachin Ravindra who bowl off spin.
The 2025 IPL season will begin on March 22, with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) taking on RCB at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Notably, CSK will play most of their games in the first half of the tournament in spin-friendly conditions in Chepauk.
