Follow UsSri Lanka all-rounder Dasun Shanaka has been named as Glenn Phillips' replacement for the Gujarat Titans (GT). Phillips was ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a groin injury. He picked up the injury against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6 (Sunday) in Hyderabad.
While Phillips did not play a single game for GT this season, he came in as a substitute fielder on a few occasions and picked up the injury during one such match. Shanaka has played thrice for GT in 2023, scoring 26 runs at a strike rate of 100. He has been acquired for INR 75 lakh.
Overall, Shanaka has scored has scored 1,456 runs in 102 T20Is for Sri Lanka along with 33 wickets. He has also played 71 ODIs and six Tests for Sri Lanka.
Titans are currently second in the IPL 2025 points table with eight points from six matches. They take on Delhi Capitals (DC) next on April 19 (Saturday) in Ahmedabad.
