Aniket Verma was the only rising star from the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 30 (Sunday) in their clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) as he smashed six sixes in his belligerent knock of 74 off just 41 balls at the VDCA-ACA YSR Reddy Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
With those six sixes in his third IPL match, Aniket got past Deepak Hooda as the uncapped player with the most sixes after the first three matches in IPL history.
Aniket, who had smashed six maximums in his first two matches, was on a roll against the Capitals as he added 77 off just 42 balls alongside Heinrich Klaasen to drag SRH to as far as 163 in the first innings of the game.
Aniket’s all sixes came against spin as he hit four of them against Vipraj Nigam and one each against Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.
The 23-year-old middle-order batter went past the likes of Hooda, Nitish Reddy and Naman Ojha to top the list of most sixes hit by an uncapped batter in their first three matches in IPL.
Brendon McCullum holds the record for most sixes by any IPL batter after their first three innings, as the Kiwi batter smashed 15 of them in the first season of the league.
