In a surprising move, Delhi Capitals have added former World Cup-winning coach Matthew Mott to their setup ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Mott will work closely with Hemang Badani, who was announced as the franchise’s new head coach.
It won’t be a first-time experience for Mott, who was part of the IPL way back in 2008 and 2009 as John Buchanan’s assistant coach at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Previously, Mott was part of the England setup as the white-ball coach, which he stepped down in July.
After his exit from England, Mott was named Sydney Sixers’ assistant coach on a three-year deal in the Big Bash League (BBL). Mott is one of the rare coaches in cricket history to have won World Cups with both men’s and women’s teams.
DC have made substantial changes to its setup after letting go of its marquee player, Rishabh Pant, ahead of IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
