A few schedule changes have been made in the ongoing 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and we now have a fixed venue for the final on June 3 — Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Apart from the final, the world’s biggest cricket stadium will also be hosting Qualifier 2 on June 1.
The remaining two playoff games — Qualifier 1 and Eliminator — will be played in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, on May 29 and May 30, respectively. As per the original plan, Hyderabad and Kolkata were going to host these four games at the end of this month. However, the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan led to the tournament being briefly suspended.
The BCCI hadn’t announced these venues for the playoffs while announcing the schedule for the second half of the tournament, and have now made a decision based on the rainfall pattern in the country and as the onset of Monsoon has already begun.
As a result of that, the game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which was scheduled to be played on May 23 in Bengaluru, has moved to Lucknow on the same day because of heavy rainfall predicted in the region. The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert, as ‘heavy to very heavy’ rainfall is predicted in the city this week.
Notably, RCB’s last game against Kolkata in Bengaluru was abandoned without a ball being bowled because of incessant rain in the city.
