Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Shardul Thakur, who went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Mega Auction, has found a way back into the IPL 2025, all thanks to an injury ruling out Mohsin Khan from the season.
Mohsin, a towering left-arm pacer, part of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), was ruled out on March 23 (Sunday), and the franchise signed Thakur from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) at his reserve price of INR 2 crore.
“The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have named Shardul Thakur as a replacement for left-arm fast bowler Mohsin Khan, who has been ruled out of the 18th season of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) due to injury,” an IPL press release read.
This will be the sixth team for Thakur in the IPL, having played for Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, CSK, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rising Pune Super Giants, a team now defunct but owned by the same owners as LSG.
Thakur has experience of playing 95 games across nine seasons so far and has 94 wickets and 307 runs with the bat, including a half-century.
LSG will open their IPL 2025 campaign against Delhi Capitals on March 24 (Monday) at Visakhapatnam.
