Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was dismissed for a golden duck on his Punjab Kings (PBKS) return in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 fixture against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on March 25 (Tuesday).
This is the 10th time Maxwell has been dismissed the first ball in the IPL, and overall, he has 19 ducks - the most in the tournament's history. Only Rashid Khan (11) has been dismissed for a golden duck more times than Maxwell.
Facing his first ball of the match, Maxwell went for an audacious reverse sweep off Sai Kishore, who had just dismissed Azmatullah Omarzai off the previous delivery. Maxwell missed, the ball rapped his pads, and the umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger.

However, ball tracking showed that the ball would have gone over the wickets. Maxwell, however, decided to walk off without reviewing after a short chat with his skipper, Shreyas Iyer.
This is Maxwell's sixth season with PBKS, having played for them between 2014 and 2017 and then another season in 2020. Before his return to the franchise, Maxwell played four seasons for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) between 2021 and 2024.
Overall, Maxwell has 2,771 runs in 135 IPL matches and has scored them at an average of 24.52 and strike rate of 156.64
