Love To Perform When There Is Pressure On My Team: Ashutosh Sharma
The batter slammed 41 off 26 to dig DC out of a precarious position against SRH
Not for the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has Ashutosh Sharma dug Delhi Capitals (DC) out of trouble. He did so against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as he slammed an unbeaten 66 off 31 deliveries to help DC overcome a target of 210 from an improbable position.
Against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 5 (Monday), DC were reduced to 29/5 in the first 43 deliveries of the match. A small partnership between Tristan Stubbs (41*) and Vipraj Nigam (18) took them 62/6 in 12.1 overs.
Ashutosh walked in with DC still in huge trouble and ran the risk of being bowled out inside 100. That's when he took charge and his 26-ball 41 took DC to a respectable total of 133/7, before the rains took over. The 26-year-old batter says that he thrives in such pressure situations.
“Yeah, I always love to play in this situation whenever there is pressure or my team has collapsed and a few wickets gone earlier. I always prepare myself for these kind of situations where no one is getting runs, and if I will get runs, so it will be good for my team and for me also. Yeah, so I always love to play in this situation,” Ashutosh said in the post-match press conference.
DC are currently in fifth spot with 13 points from 11 matches. They have undergone a significant slump, having won just one of their last four matches, after winning five of the first six.
However, they are still in with a shout to qualify for the playoffs as the Axar Patel-led side takes on Punjab Kings (PBKS) next on May 8 (Thursday) in Dharamsala.
