Prince Yadav is just 23, and fits the description of a talented rookie pacer. He bowls it quick (in the high 130s and early 140s), swings the ball on occasions, hits the deck hard and also has a lethal yorker in his arsenal. He doesn’t leave the stumps either and keeps bowling there by mixing his deliveries.
That’s how he was able to smash away Travis Head’s stumps in the game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by pitching the ball up without any inhibitions and the ball crashed into the base of Head’s stumps.
However, despite dismissing probably the most dangerous batter in the lineup, Yadav’s most memorable moment came in the 12th over when he ran out Heinrich Klaasen in the most bizarre fashion.
Yadav again overpitched and Nitish Kumar Reddy smashed right back at him. Yadav went low towards his left side to get a hand to the ball in an attempt to catch it. But the ball was struck really hard, and instead of being lodged in his arm, the ball hit it hard and got deflected towards the stumps. Klaasen was out of his crease and was run out.
While Yadav hurt his palm while pulling off one of the most bizarre dismissals, he got Head and Klaasen out in the same innings.
Not a bad result at all for a 23-year-old rookie pacer from Delhi.
