Fast bowler Ishant Sharma was fined 25% of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct during Gujarat Titans' (GT) seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Hyderabad on April 6 (Sunday).
Ishant breached Article 2.2, which is "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match." Match referee Javagal Srinath levelled the charges, and Ishant accepted his punishment.
The GT pacer has had a tough start to the season, having conceded 97 runs in three games, 53 of those coming against SRH. Moreover, he has picked up just one wicket so far.
Despite Ishant's poor form, GT have been excellent, winning three of their four games, sitting at the second spot in the IPL 2025 points table.
