IPL 2025: Marcus Stoinis Narrowly Misses Out On All-Time IPL Record
Stoinis’ 16-ball 44 against Delhi Capitals almost broke an all-time IPL record
Punjab Kings needed the best of Marcus Stoinis heading into the playoffs, as the Australian all-rounder smashed a 16-ball 44 on his return against Delhi Capitals, on May 24 (Saturday). In his first clash after the break, the Australian came out firing all cylinders, with a six off his second ball at the crease.
The right-hander then continued his stellar touch, with six and four off consecutive deliveries to take off. Kuldeep Yadav could have almost got the Australian if not for a missed opportunity from Mohit Sharma, as it turned from bad to worse.
Stoinis applied salt on Mohit’s wounds, with a big over, smashing six, four, four and six, taking 22 runs off the over. Not just that, it also took the big all-rounder to 41 off 14 balls. Eventually, Stoinis ended his innings with a strike rate of 275.00.
His effort took PBKS past the 200-run mark, the joint-most for a team in a T20 tournament.
