Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) slipped to yet another massive defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, this time at the hands of Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 31 (Monday). They were outplayed in every department, and as a result, managed just 116 on the board, which MI chased down with more than seven overs to spare and eight wickets in hand.
With plenty of new faces coming in and many established players leaving ahead of this season, KKR have not started well. All-rounder Ramandeep Singh believes that the mega auction has played a huge role in that, as they now have to come up with a new combination, moving away from the one they had last year.
"Mega auctions are disheartening. You set a combination, and then every three years, you have to change the team. But that is not an excuse; teams will try and find their winning combinations as quickly as possible, and we are trying to find our winning combination as well," Ramandeep said at the post-match press conference.
KKR have now lost two of their three matches in IPL 2025 and find themselves at the bottom of the table. They will hope to get back to winning ways when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens on April 3 (Thursday).
