Left-arm wrist-spinner Vignesh Puthur, who picked up three wickets against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk six nights ago, has been dropped from the squad for the encounter against Gujarat Giants (GT) in Ahmedabad on March 29 (Saturday).
MI have instead gone in with Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman in place of Puthur. Moreover, Hardik Pandya comes for Robin Minz, having missed the first game due to suspension.
24-year-old Puthur is also not part of the impact players list for the match. Minz, Ashwani Kumar, Raj Bawa, Corbin Bosch, and Will Jacks are the four impact subs chosen by MI for this game.
Puthur got the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and Deepak Hooda as his first three wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He impressed the MI scouts with his performance in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) and was also the net bowler for MI Cape Town in SA20.
In the ongoing game, MI won the toss and opted to bowl first. Both teams go into the match on the back of defeats.
MI suffered a four-wicket defeat at the hands of CSK. GT, on the other hand, lost to Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 11 runs in Ahmedabad.
