Despite their back-to-back losses, Gujarat Titans (GT) still remain at the top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 points table. They lost to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 33 runs, and on May 25 (Sunday), they succumbed to an 83-run loss against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
However, they could slip to third by the time the rest of the league stage matches are played. That opens up opportunities for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) to finish in the top two. Teams will want to finish either first or second as it gives them two cracks of making it to the final.
The winner of PBKS vs MI will qualify for the Qualifier 1.
If RCB beat LSG, RCB join PBKS or MI, else GT will go through to Q1.
If PBKS vs MI is a no result, GT will make it to top two and will be joined by RCB if they beat LSG, and if not, it will be PBKS.
After the dead-rubber between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), PBKS take on MI on May 26 (Monday), and on the following day LSG face RCB in Lucknow.
The playoffs will begin from May 29 onwards, and the final will be played in Ahmedabad on June 3.
