Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by seven wickets in Match 69 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on May 26 (Monday), confirming their spot in the top two.
Shreyas Iyer and Co. end the league stage with 19 points and will take on one of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) or Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Qualifier 1 in Mullanpur on May 29 (Thursday).
However, they will have to wait for the result of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs RCB to know whether they will finish at No.1 or 2 on the points table.
Meanwhile, MI will finish the league stage at No.4 and will play the Eliminator against one of RCB or GT in Mullanpur on May 30 (Friday).
RCB currently have 17 points, and if they beat LSG on May 26 (Tuesday), they will finish in the top two and take on PBKS in the Qualifier 1.
If RCB defeat LSG by a good margin, they can also end the league at No.1. Both RCB and PBKS have 17 points, but the latter’s NRR is slightly better - +0.372 vs +0.255.
However, if RCB lose to LSG, they will finish at No.3 and GT (18 points) will finish at No.2, giving them two cracks of making it to the final.
