The Indian Premier League (IPL) is fast approaching the midpoint of its 2025 season, and things are not looking good for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the finalists of the 2024 edition.
After playing seven games, SRH have won only two and are in the second last spot on the points table. Their most recent loss came against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede in Mumbai by four wickets, as their batting failed to live up to its hype after being asked to bat first.
Their net run rate has also dropped after the drubbing they received in Mumbai, and their qualification scenarios look a bit bleak. Let’s have a look at them
Maximum points - 18
If SRH manage to win six out of their remaining seven games, their qualification will be sure. However, it won’t be an easy thing to pull off for SRH, as they face DC, MI and KKR at home and CSK, GT, RCB, and LSG away from here on in the competition.
Maximum points - 16
This particular scenario will also give SRH a great chance to qualify; however, as said before, Pat Cummins’s side will have to really up their game.
Maximum points - 14
In this situation, SRH would also need to take care of their NRR, as it is currently well below -1. They would want to win some of these seven games by a huge margin to compensate for their poor first half of the tournament.
The situation will be similar but more dire if SRH end at 12 points with four wins and three losses. The NRR boost would have to be even bigger for them to ensure a qualification from there.
Maximum points - 10 or below
SRH have no chance of qualification if they lose more than three games from here on. That way they’ll end up with 10 points or below, which won’t be enough for them to end up in the top four.
