Mumbai Indians Can Finish In Top Two – Here’s HOW!

However, it isn’t as straightforward as five-time IPL champions would want several results to go their way

Mumbai Indians’ train is back on track, with a massive win over their closest competitors on the points table, Delhi Capitals, on May 21 (Wednesday). With that, the five-time IPL champions have got themselves 16 points, and are placed fourth, only behind Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) by one solitary point.

There’s a serious possibility that MI could finish inside the top two. Forget the calculator, and read the article to find out what the games are that they will need to go their way.

Here’s How MI Can Finish Inside The Top Two:

– For starters, MI need to beat PBKS on May 26 (Monday)

DC need to beat PBKS, which would prevent PBKS from climbing upwards from 17 points

– RCB need to lose both their remaining games [LSG (A) and SRH (H)]

Here’s How MI Can’t Finish Inside Top Two Because of Washout(s):

– If the match between PBKS and DC is washed out, MI can’t finish inside the top two

– MI will have to hope that one of RCB’s last two matches doesn’t get washed out, with the chances of a washout being thin

Why Will MI Finish Inside The Top Two?

If MI beat PBKS, and the other results go their way, three teams - MI, RCB and PBKS will finish on 17 points. However, owing to their better NRR, MI will finish second, and will play GT in Qualifier 1.
