IPL 2025: Rajasthan Royals Add to Rahul Dravid's Coaching Staff
The new spin bowling coach was also part of the Royals set up between 2018 and 2021
Former India leg-spinner Sairaj Bahutule is set to join Rajasthan Royals (RR) as the spin bowling coach from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 onwards according to a report on Cricbuzz.
Bahutule was part of the Royals' backroom staff between 2018 and 2021 before taking up a role at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will work closely with head coach Rahul Dravid and former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond, who is the bowling coach of the franchise.
"The discussions are ongoing, and I'm close to finalizing my involvement with the franchise. There are still a few details to be worked out, but I'm excited to be realigning with the Royals," Bahutule told Cricbuzz on February 7 (Friday).
"I'm also thrilled to be reuniting with Rahul. He was the one who introduced me to the Indian team during the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in 2023 when I served as the spin-bowling coach. I was also part of his coaching staff in Sri Lanka, so I'm looking forward to our reunion."
Along with the pacers in the side, Bahutule, who feated in seven international matches for India, is expected to work closely with spinners Maheesh Teekshana, Kumar Kartikeya, and Wanindu Hasaranga.
The 2025 edition of the IPL will begin on March 21 and conclude on May 25. The tournament's fixtures are yet to be announced.
