Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opening batter Mitchell Marsh has endorsed Rishabh Pant as a good leader. However, he has had a poor Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign with the bat, which has made him the centre of attention, given that his franchise shelled out INR 27 crore for him.
"He is a good leader," Marsh said, according to Cricbuzz.
"Look, I think he's really growing into a role and he's still reasonably young, but, yeah, he's a good leader. And, yeah, he's just getting better and better. So [I'm] looking forward to hopefully playing under him for a while."
Marsh is also open to bowling in the IPL if the situation demands it. "It's a different experience [going only as a batter], that's for sure. I feel like a baseballer," says Marsh. "It has been a lot of fun. And yeah, I'm open to the role whenever they need me in the field or my bowling will come back at some stage," Marsh, who has 37 IPL wickets, said.
Marsh, who has played for six IPL franchises, says that he is really enjoying his time at LSG.
"I think I've really enjoyed it so far. New team, new people, just try to contribute where I can. And we're obviously well placed at the moment [sixth place with 10 points from nine games]. [It's] such an even and hard competition. So every game is hard to win, but we know we're a few wins away from really pushing for the semi-finals [playoffs].
"Every time you play for a different team, it's always a new experience, new people. The team is run differently. But, yeah, this is a really close group of people and we got some fantastic humans here, which is for me more important than cricket. So, yeah, it's been a real pleasure to be a part of it and hopefully we can keep winning."
Marsh has also likened playing in the IPL to international cricket. "I think it's always a challenge and something that we experience playing international cricket. You play in different countries, different wickets, you know, different conditions all the time. So it's just about preparing as well as you possibly can and adjusting to the conditions and contributing to wins," he said.
LSG, who lost to Delhi Capitals (DC) in their previous game, will look to get back to winning ways when they take on Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 27 (Sunday).
