It was a historic day in the Indian Premier League (IPL) that saw a 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi score a 35-ball ton, which is the second-fastest in the tournament's history. On the back of that epic ton, Rajasthan Royals (RR) recorded the fastest 200-plus chase in T20 cricket.
Chasing 210 against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Jaipur on April 28 (Monday), RR reached the target in just 15.5 overs.
15.5 overs - Rajasthan Royals vs Gujarat Titans in Jaipur, 2025
16.0 overs - Surrey vs Middlesex at The Oval, 2018
16.0 overs - Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, 2024
16.0 overs - Pakistan vs New Zealand in Auckland, 2015
Moreover, this is the highest target successfully chased down against GT in the IPL, going past 205, which was hunted down by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2023.
While Suryavanshi will take all the limelight, his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal, with whom he put on 166 for the first wicket, became the third-fastest Indian to 2,000 IPL runs, getting there in 62 innings. Only Ruturaj Gaikwad (57) and KL Rahul (60) have gotten to the milestone faster than Jaiswal.
With this win, RR keep their chances of making the playoffs alive. They have also snapped their five-match losing streak. Their last win before this came against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 5 in Mullanpur.
They are currently in eighth position on the IPL 2025 points table with six points from 10 games.
