Coming in at three, Sam Curran slammed a timely fifty for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 30 (Wednesday) at Chepauk. The England all-rounder got to the landmark off 30 deliveries and in doing so, hit his first fifty for CSK in 1649 days.
His last half-century for the Men in Yellow was on October 23, 2020, against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Sharjah. Overall, this is his sixth fifty in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His other four came for PBKS - two in 2024, one in 2023 and one in 2019.
Curran managed scores of 4, 8 and 9 in his previous three innings this season. He is yet to pick up a wicket in IPL 2025, going for 0/13, 0/34 and 0/25 in his previous matches.
He came into the IPL in good form with the bat, having hit three fifties in the International T20 (ILT20).
This is a crucial match for CSK, who need a win to stay alive in their quest to make the playoffs. They are currently at the foot of the table with just two wins in nine matches.
