Shardul Thakur Spotted Training With THIS IPL TEAM Despite Going Unsold At Auction
Could Shardul be snapped up as an injury replacement?
Shardul Thakur currently does not have an IPL team after going unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction, but that could change pretty quickly as the Team India speedster was recently spotted training with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the new season.
Shardul, on March 15 (Saturday), was pictured training in an LSG kit, and it is believed that he also joined the team’s Holi celebrations, fueling speculations that he will imminently be signed as a replacement player.
As it stands, LSG’s fast-bowling trio of Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan are all injured, with tearaway Mayank confirmed to miss the first half of IPL 2025. There is, thus, a high probability that Shardul could get drafted in as a replacement.
What’s interesting here is that last month, the all-rounder signed up to play for Essex in the County Championship, having gone unsold in the IPL. It was expected that, in the County Championship, Shardul would push his case for Test selection for the England tour in June & July.
But being snapped up by LSG or any other franchise might lead to the 33-year-old pulling out of the County Championship.
