With the wicket of Dewald Brevis, Varun Chakaravarthy became the fastest spinner to pick up 100 Indian Premier League (IPL) wickets, getting to the milestone in 82 innings. Out of his 100 wickets, 99 have come for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), while he has a solitary wicket for Punjab Kings (PBKS) as well.

He has played for KKR since 2020, and no bowler has picked up more wickets for the team than Chakaravarthy since then. His impressive performances over the years for KKR has also earned him a place in the Indian side. More recently, he was India's highest wicket-taker in their triumphant Champions Trophy campaign.
KKR won the IPL title after a decade in 2024, and Chakaravarthy once again led from the front with the ball, picking up 21 wickets at an economy rate of a shade over eight. He is also KKR's leading wicket-taker with 17 scalps at a miserly economy rate of seven this season.
Against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Chakaravarthy finished with 2/18 to give his side a chance.
