IPL 2025 Venue Analysis: Will The Royals Continue to Reign Supreme At Home?
Here is a look into the behaviour of the Sawai Mansingh Stadium for IPL 2025
Rajasthan Royals (RR) will return to their original home ground on April 13 (Sunday), where they will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). They have played their first two home games in Guwahati managing to win one of them. With five games scheduled to take place at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the Royals will be aiming to win most of them.
The toss has not impacted the match results much, as teams batting first and chasing have won five games each in the last two years. The average first-inning score is decent at 180, which brings a balance between bat and ball.
Pacers have been successful compared to the spinners as they have managed to take 56 wickets. However, the economy and bowling average are higher than spinners even though the bowling SR is similar.
HOME SWEET HOME FOR RAJASTHAN ROYALS
The Rajasthan Royals have had a terrific record against every opponent, barring Gujarat Titans (GT) at home. Apart from losing the two games against GT at this venue, they have over 50% win percentage against every other opponent at this venue.
They have managed an excellent win percentage of 64.9, which is the second-best for a team at a venue after CSK in Chennai.
The batters have taken on pacers, scoring against them at a decent run rate of 9.2. They also have a batting average of 35.9, which is the best against pacers at a venue in IPL.
Bowlers have not been able to take wickets quickly. Their SR of 21.7 is the worst at a venue for bowlers in the last two editions.
Left-arm pacers have found great success at this venue as they have been very economical, conceding just 8.6 runs per over.
SPINNERS HAD A SEASON TO FORGET IN 2024
Spinners had a terrible season in 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium as they took just 14 wickets in 10 innings, which is half of the wickets they took in same number of innings in 2023. The bowling average and SR is very high at 48.5 and 32.9.
Middle overs have seen batters adapt and score runs for fun as bowlers hardly made any impact. They managed just 15 wickets bowling 90 overs compared to 29 wickets bowling 84.2 overs in 2023.
Finger spinners were toothless at this venue in IPL 2024, conceding 308 runs in 36.4 overs and managing just two wickets across nine innings. Ravichandran Ashwin, who performed everywhere else but Jaipur, was largely responsible for this failure.
