IPL 2026 Trade Window: MI Eye KKR, SRH Spinners In Trade Deals To Bolster Bowling Unit

According to multiple reports, Mumbai Indians are eyeing Rahul Chahar and Mayank Markande

After a somewhat underwhelming IPL 2025, the Mumbai Indians (MI) are on the market yet again, actively looking for spin bowling options ahead of IPL 2026. As per The Times of India, the five-time IPL winners are in contact with two of their former spinners – Rahul Chahar and Mayank Markande

The same publication noted that Mumbai are readying an offer in an all-cash trade deal with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for leg-spinner Markande. Markande didn’t play a single game for the franchise last year but was in fine form in IPL 2024 when he picked up eight wickets, averaging 32.37.

In IPL 2023, the leg-spinner had his second-best season in the competition’s history, as the 28-year-old scalped 12 wickets, averaging 25.00. Alongside that, the reports also suggested the franchise might be aiming to bring back their leg-spinner Rahul Chahar, who is more than a capable all-rounder.

The 26-year-old picked up 10 wickets in IPL 2024, including dominating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chepauk, where he was the standout player for Punjab Kings (PBKS). While he has not had the opportunity to show his batting skills, the all-rounder has a high score of 84 in first-class cricket.
