IPL Auction 2026: 45 Players Put 2Cr As Base Price, 1355 Named In Long List

Surprisingly, 37-year-old Glenn Maxwell does not feature in the long list

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction will have 45 players listed with a base price of INR 2 Cr, if franchises choose to keep all 45 of them in the short list. The 45 names are a part of the 1355 players named in a long list by the IPL Governing Council.

The long list was sent to franchises on December 1 (Monday). From that list, franchises will be asked to submit their preferred choices to the council and a short list will be prepared based on that. The last date to submit the short list is December 5th.

Players in the INR 2 Cr bracket include the likes of Cameron Green, Venkatesh Iyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Ravi Bishnoi and Matheesha Pathirana to name a few.

Surprisingly, 37-year-old Glenn Maxwell does not feature in the long list. He had to leave mid-way through the 2025 season due to an injury. He was anyway having a bad season with both the bat and ball in hand, scoring just 48 runs and taking only four wickets from seven matches that he played.

He was replaced by fellow Australian Mitchell Owen, who has since become a name to reckon with in T20s, playing in leagues around the world.

With 77 slots available, including 31 overseas, the bidding war is going to be intense, especially between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings, which have INR 64.3 Cr and 43.4 Cr available in their purse.

The single-day auction will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16th.
