The mega final of the Indian Premier League 2022 will be played from 8 PM Indian Standard Time, instead of the regulation 7:30 PM, to accommodate the closing ceremony, involving Bollywood celebrities. Cricbuzz reported that the cultural closing ceremony is scheduled to start at 6:30 PM IST and will continue for 50 minutes.
The mega IPL 2022 final will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium at Motera in Ahmedabad next Sunday (May 29) - with Ahmedabad and Kolkata hosting the playoff games this season.
Before the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators took over in early 2017, IPL opening and closing ceremonies used to be a regulation feature but the CoA decided to stop that altogether. The current regime didn't bring that back but later in an Apex Council meeting, it was decided to host the closing ceremony in Ahmedabad.
On April 16, the BCCI invited bids from reputed entities for staging the Closing Ceremony of IPL 2022, through a tender process. The RFP was available on receipt of payment of a non-refundable fee of INR 1,00,000 (Indian Rupees One Lakh Only) plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax.
