Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk can't stop scoring runs in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, helping San Francisco Unicorns remain undefeated after five matches.
Against MI New York on June 23 (Monday) in Dallas, Short smashed 91 off 43 deliveries, while Fraser-McGurk hammered seven sixes in his 26-ball 64. Thanks to their efforts, the Unicorns posted 246/4 and defeated New York by 47 runs.
In the previous game against the Texas Super Kings, Short had scored 61 off 29 deliveries, while Fraser-McGurk has accumulated 196 runs across five innings at an average of almost 40 and a strike rate of 194.06 in MLC 2025.
Fraser-McGurk has managed to turn things around after a terrible Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for the Delhi Capitals (DC), where he scored just 55 runs in six innings at an average of 9.16.
Meanwhile, Short played for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2023 but could only manage 117 runs in six innings at an average of 19.50 and a strike rate of 127.17.
Short has been in impressive form in the T20 format since 2024. The right-handed batter has scored 1,101 runs across 34 innings at an average of 35.52 and a strike rate of 165.1. During this period, the off-spinner has also taken 20 wickets at an economy rate of 7.80.
