'It does hurt sometimes' - Discarded India Opener After West Indies Test Series Snub
Despite scoring nearly 8,000 first-class runs, the batter is yet to make his debut for India
Abhimanyu Easwaran was part of the squad for the entire series against England, but failed to make it to the XI. Now, he has been overlooked for the Test series at home against West Indies. The 30-year-old, who has been named captain of the Bengal team for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, will hope to have another good season and look to return to the Indian squad.
However, despite being a consistent performer in domestic cricket, Easwaran, who has close to 8,000 first-class runs, says it hurts when he is not picked.
“Yes, it does hurt sometimes. You put in all the effort, train hard, and the dream is to be in the middle — to perform, to contribute to wins. But I’m fortunate to have a solid support system: my family, friends, and coach. They help me stay grounded and motivated. Right now, I’m in a good headspace and looking forward to the Ranji season,” Easwaran told Revsportz.
The batter will hope to be part of India's next Test series, which will be against South Africa from November 14 onwards.
